Meet Claire Kariya RD, CNSC
I'm Claire, a registered dietitian dedicated to helping people who depend on tube feeding for their nutrition.
I earned my degree in Food Science & Human Nutrition at the University of Maine, then completed my dietetic training at the University of Michigan. My practicum included supervised practice at the world renown University of Michigan Hospital and CS Mott Children's Hospital.
Since 2005 I have been working as a clinical dietitian at a top hospital in Vancouver, Canada. I provide patients with specialized medical nutrition including tube feeding and intravenous nutrition. In addition to my role at the hospital and Natural Tube Feeding, I conduct research on swallowing problems and tube feeding. You can read my study on blenderized tube feeding here. I also teach dietetic students and provide nutrition lectures to resident physicians and student nurses and pharmacists at the University of British Columbia.
Over the course of my career I've gained specialized knowledge and expertise on the use of real food for tube feeding. For many years, this has been my professional focus and my passion. I feel strongly that fresh food should be included in one's diet, whether or not they have a feeding tube.
If you are interested in creating your own blended meals for tube feeding, you've come to the right place. I hope you will find inspiration and the support you're looking for here at Natural Tube Feeding!
