Meet Claire Kariya RD, CNSC

I'm Claire, a registered dietitian dedicated to helping people who depend on tube feeding for their nutrition.

I earned my degree in Food Science & Human Nutrition at the University of Maine, then completed my dietitian training at the University of Michigan. My practicum included supervised practice at the world renown University of Michigan Hospital and CS Mott Children's Hospital.

Since 2005 I have been working as a clinical dietitian at a top hospital in Vancouver, Canada, where I provide patients with specialized medical nutrition therapy, including tube feeding. In addition to my role at the hospital and Natural Tube Feeding, I conduct research on swallowing problems and blended diets. You can read my study on registered dietitians' perspectives on blenderized tube feeding here, and my study on blended diets and feeding tube blockages here.

Over the course of my career I've gained specialized knowledge and expertise on the use of real food for tube feeding. For many years, this has been my professional focus and my passion. I take every opportunity to advocate for greater acceptance of blending in the medical community because I truly believe that fresh food should be included in a person's diet, whether or not they have a feeding tube.

If you are interested in creating your own blended meals for tube feeding, you've come to the right place. I hope you will find inspiration and the information you're looking for here at Natural Tube Feeding!
